Indoor Climbing - Granite Arch, Folsom - Sept 21

We have a very special event that is terrific for ages 5 and up this Sunday evening!  Indoor Rock Climbing is a blast, absolutely safe, offers challenges to any age and any skill level, and is a fun group event because we can have as many as 40 people climbing at a time so people can watch one another and enjoy the fun of being together.  We have a very special deal this time because Granite Arch Indoor Climbing Gym was just purchased by a Christian friend of ours, Bob Balzhiser, who is giving us a killer price – half off!  What really makes it fun is when we have lots of people who can help belay (assist the climbers) others.  You can be certified to do this by arriving at 5pm and going through the class.  Come join us!  The info is below.

This is for all ages and all skill levels!  Questions? Contact Pam Harvey, Pamelah@baysideonline.com

Granite Arch Climbing Gym is the largest indoor climbing gym in California – with climbing
opportunities for the first timer and the expert and everyone in between! Even more exciting is
that it is under new ownership! has been a friend of Bayside Church and Bayside Adventure
Sports for years as he is also on staff with Youth For Christ. He brings his love for the Lord, love for
youth ministry, and love for rock climbing all together at this amazing facility. He’s doing
something very special to celebrate this first event for us – he’s slashing his normal price of $16
in half. That’s right, just $8 per person covers entrance and a climbing harness and we have
exclusive use of the whole facility for our group! You can learn more about Granite Arch at
www.granitearch.com

There is a snack area at Granite Arch and we will also be bringing in some refreshments, so
plan on a few bucks if you would like to get something to eat while there. You can arrive and
depart at any time (4 hours is much longer than most people can climb).

BELAYERS NEEDED – To make the night the best possible experience for all, we need lots of
students and adults trained to be belayers. To become one it is a simple process of learning
how to tie a few knots and use the Granite Arch belay devices properly. Belayer training takes
about 30 minutes and group trainings will be offered at 5:10pm and 6pm. This is perfect for
adults who bring their young children, as they can then be responsible for their own kids and
others’ friends. If you would like to be trained before the event, our Bayside Adventure Sports
rock climbing leader – Greg Syftestad – will train you on Sunday morning, 9/21 at Bayside
Church between the second and third services, 11-11:30am. Please email Pam Harvey (see
above) if you are interested in this then meet Greg at the BAS Table.

Bouldering Available! Granite Arch has a really fun bouldering area that allows for any age to
play on lower climbing walls so plan for even more fun!

Mt. Shasta Trip - 2004

Shasta 2004 climb photo gallery - Check it Out!

A dozen Baysiders hit the top of Mt. Shasta on Friday July 16th.  Led by Ty Hoblitt and joined by BAS leader Greg Weismann, all but one of the group reached the summit of 14,162 foot Mt. Shasta - including Greg's 11 year old daughter Krista!  Click here for a photo gallery.  This is an annual event so start psyching yourself up for this epic adventure next year.  Nothing makes you feel closer to God than being filled with the glory of His creation on top of a peak like Shasta!
