2009 BAS Cycling Season On In On!!!

We had two guys that have hear the calling of the Lord to take the BAS Road Cycling over, and get it rolling again.

BAS Road Cycling Leader Jeff Brown

I have only been riding my road bike for about 3½ year, but I have put in many miles. If it is just the 12 miles around Lake Natomas, the 76 miles around Take Tahoe, or the 55 miles around Folsom Lake I have done it. I sill have a lot to learn about ride, training, and getting better at my riding, but my greatest joy is to see the newest rider finish there 1st big ride. Knowing I was a part of that telling them and showing them they could do it.

BAS Road Cycling Co-Leader Dave Uhte

I love to bike!

Although I enjoy training and competing in many sports my favorite is the bike. In my adult life I have been competitive in ski racing (downhill and X-country), tennis, golf, martial arts, running, road cycling and triathlons. Currently my competitive juices are satisfied by triathlons (Olympic and Sprint) and running (5K, 10K, 12K and 1/2 marathons). In addition I do a few centuries.

No matter what I do for competition or sport I always come back to the bike. The exhilaration, freedom and fitness benefits are unbeatable. It doesn't matter to me whether I'm going all out on a time trial, doing a training ride with a bunch of friends, completing a century or cruising at 10 mph with new riders to the end of the block. I love to bike.

I volunteered to co-lead the BAS Road Cycling group for several reasons. To meet a few cyclists, enjoy the open road with a few friends, help a few people achieve their fitness goals and grow spiritually through fellowship with like-minded people.

I look forward to riding with all who join, Dave
