Your own two feet good enough for you?  Love to get out in the mountains for some peace and quiet as well as hike along with some others who appreciate the most basic way of enjoying the Sierra.  B.A.S. offers one day hikes throughout the season as well as camping in Yosemite National Park and hiking Half Dome - our biggest event every year.  Check the calendar for an upcoming expedition.

Calendar Changes

The 2009 calendar is posted.  Please review our calendar for updated dates and events.  Please check back often as this is a volunteer organization and dates may need to move to accommodate changes to the leader’s personal calendars.  Please check the winter sports tab for snow shoe and cross country ski joint trips.

NOTE:  DUE TO INCREASING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ADVENTURE SPORTS MINISTRY, TO ATTEND A HIKE IN 2009 YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE A MEMBER OF BAYSIDE ADVENTURE SPORTS.   AT ONLY $50 PER FAMILY THIS IS ONE OF THE REMAINING “GREAT DEALS” OUT THERE.  PLEASE CLICK ON THE MEMBERSHIP TAB TO SIGN UP AND BEGIN TO REALIZE ALL OF THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP!!!

2009 Trip Summary

The trips for 2009 can be classed into three broad categories.

1.    First, Sunday Strolls that will be short, generally local, family oriented hikes following the 9:45 AM Bayside Services.

2.    Second, 1 and 2 boot hikes.  These are hikes that will likely challenge someone on a regular walking schedule.

3.    Third, Challenge Hikes.  These are the 3 and 4 boot hikes, many of which will be prerequisites for attending our high adventure summits (ie. Mt. Shasta - 5 boot hikes)

One of the goals of the Hiking Division is to encourage a healthy lifestyle through walking.  If you are regularly walking 20 to 30 minutes per day you will be well on your way to participating in our 1 and 2 boot hikes.  Only you and your physician can determine if you have the required physical fitness for these activities.
