Fall Fishing Series Kicks Off Sept 29th
Come join us in the Bayside Cafe' Monday the 29th at 7PM. This series will feature fishing topics weekly through October. We are delighted to have Vince Hurtado as our first speaker. Vince is a new addition to the B.A.S. Fishing Team and comes with some really terrific credentials. You may have also seen him on Angler West Telvision or various magazine publications. Vince is an experienced anger who is really a great teacher as well. If you plan on fishing this fall this will be a great opportunity to pick up a few tips. Vince knows the Delta really well too.
Yosemite 2008 - We Climbed the Rock
Bayside's annual trip to Yosemite and hike up Half Dome was another smash hit. Dozens of Baysiders rose before dawn to hike to the summit of Half Dome. Hikers as young as 8 and old as 70 completed the daunting 5000 foot climb and 17 mile round trip trek, including many first timers. The food by Kevin was terrific and Sunday services were touching and inspirational. If you missed this trip this year, sign up early in 2009 - it is truly a must do! Click here for photos from the trip.

Outreach in a ESPN WorldWould Jesus ride a mountain bike?
Terry Ash discovered the answer four years ago after moving his family to Granite Bay, Calif. At the time, he was “a casual Christian, who sporadically attended church and didn’t serve in any way.”
But
when he went mountain biking with his Hewlett-Packard co-workers, Ash met
Steve Keller, director of the mountain bike division for Bayside Adventure
Sports (BAS), a ministry of Bayside Church in Granite Bay. Ash connected
with Keller and soon joined the BAS gang on monthly rides.
“I remember coming home effusive and telling my wife, ‘God rides a mountain bike,’ ” Ash, 51, recalls. “Since then I’ve made many friends at Bayside and I attend every Sunday, tithe regularly and serve in the ministry. BAS has been a ‘God thing’ for me and brought me to a relationship with Christ I never experienced before.”
Keller and other ministry leaders believe Ash is representative of an untapped mission field—today’s sports sector. “More than 90% of Americans are engaged on a weekly basis in some aspect of playing, observing or being occupied by sports and recreation, including fitness,” says Rodger Oswald, founder of Church Sports International (churchsports.org; CSI), a California-based ministry helping churches reach their communities through sports.
The Trail Head Prayer
If you rode with the BAS mountain bikers as they hit the Pioneer Trail on August 19th, then you were treated with a poignant "trail head prayer" from big Bruce Seigel:
Heavenly Father, we gather today to celebrate and humbly thank you for all you do to bring us to this trailhead.
We give thanks for this Day, a chance to journey through the splendor you created.
We give thanks for the strong healthy bodies you have blessed us with.
We give thanks for those who forged the trail before us and for bringing us all together.
And we give thanks for your spirit, the Holy Spirit of adventure you placed in each of us.
Please watch over us this day as we follow YOUR path.
May we see you in the forest, feel you in the wind, smell you in the trees and delight in the love you share through all you provide.
In Jesus Name
Amen

BAS Making a Difference - and Needing Your Support
Bayside Adventure Sports is all about reaching people in Christ through fellowship and activities that active Northern Californians really dig. Here is just one example:
"In 2001 we were on the verge of leaving Bayside because we didn't feel like we belonged. But we connected with a group more our style (Yerington, spring 2001) and within a month I accepted Christ and three months later we were baptized together. We were then able to get our neighbors and friends excited about coming to Yerington and many seeds were planted. We really are thankful for your efforts and all the hard work you put in the ministry and the vision of connecting people through adventure sports, really meeting people where they are.” Kevin & Heather
Continuing this work and these victories needs your support. The leadership of Bayside Adventure Sports has stepped out in faith to enable this vibrant ministry to grow and continue its good work, including the addition of two new staff members to the team. Yet doing so without your support will simply not be possible. Click here to download or view a letter from our Ministry Pastor, Greg Weissman to learn more about how you can help and just where we need to get to. Live the adventure with us and step out in faith to support this innovative and powerful ministry.
