The Pacific Crest Trail - 2 Hikers Tell their Stories
February 28, 2017
Bayside Church, Granite Bay
Three letters put together raises the eyebrows of every serious hiker in the world. The PCT.
It's a 2,650-mile, four-month-plus journey from the Mexican border, through the mountains (and some deserts) of California, Oregon and Washington, to the Canadian border.
Kelly Baraga, with the blessing of her husband George, walked those miles in 2015. Scott Gnile, with the blessing of his wife Kelly, walked those miles in 2016.
They are two of more than 4,200 backpackers — who each receive trail names along the way — to thru-hike the PCT from end to end in a single trip.
The two of them are active members of Bayside Adventure Sports and Bayside Church and they will share their stories, comparing and contrasting what it was like to hike the trail in a drought year (Kelly) and in a normal year (Scott). Their presentation will highlight personal challenges and lessons learned along the trail.
At the end of their presentation, about 7:45pm, they will spend another 30 minutes answering your questions.
Dinner will be provided by Beach Hut Deli and Mountain Mike's Pizza. Yep, a full dinner and program for only $5 in advance, $7 at the door. Bring the whole family!
We will not require BAS Membership for this event...but we do rely on memberships and donations to keep this great ministry going. For individuals it's only $25/year! Families are $50/year. For more information about membership and to join www.baysideadventuresports.com/membership
