Montana Fly Fishing Expedition
West Yellowstone and Beyond
July 24 - August 1, 2020
Join your Bayside Adventure Sports fly fishing host, Mark Schaller, and Professional Fly Fishing Guide, Jim Roberts, on this trip of a lifetime. Over a seven-day period you will have the opportunity to fish many of the nation’s best trout fisheries including the “Miracle Mile”, Raynolds Pass, and Three Dollar Bridge sections of the Madison River. Additional rivers will likely include the Ruby, Beaverhead, Gallatin, and a number of streams within the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park (YNP). We will make decisions daily on which river to fish based on the current weather and fishing conditions. This is a seven-day “Walk and Wade” trip during which we will spend 7-8 hours on the water each day. While most of these rivers can be easily waded, we highly recommend that guests be in good health and physically prepared for a full week of fly fishing.

July 25th - Arrive West Yellowstone- Fish 7 days.
August 1st - Depart West Yellowstone for home.

West Yellowstone is about a 980-mile trip, approximately 15 hours in duration. Those driving will depart early on Friday July 24th, overnighting in Idaho Falls, about a 13-hour drive. Hotel reservations will be secured by Mark prior to departure. The group will then leave early the morning of the 25th for West Yellowstone, arriving early enough to get their gear squared away and do some fishing.
Guests additionally have the option to travel by air with the most optimal airport being West Yellowstone (WYS), serviced only by Delta Airlines (arrival date July 25th). This airport is about 25 minutes from our lodging and arrangements can be made to pick you up and drop you off at the conclusion of the trip.
Guests are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. While carpooling is encouraged, it is strictly a private agreement and at your sole risk, whether driver or passenger. BAS does not carry insurance for carpooling arrangements and assumes no liability for those made. At a minimum, the group will likely be dependent on at least two of our five guests’ willingness to drive. Mark will be driving as well, but will not be returning home with the group as he is hosting a second trip immediately after the conclusion of this one.
We will be staying in a beautiful 4000 square foot log home located on Hebgen Lake, 20 miles outside the town of West Yellowstone, and minutes away from the “Miracle Mile” section of the Upper Madison River. This three-story home has four bedrooms, three baths, and two great rooms. Each client will have their own bed, but not necessarily their own private room.
All food and beverages, with exception to alcohol, are provided. Meals are plentiful, delicious, and prepared by Jim. Jim definitely knows his way around the kitchen, you will not be disappointed. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any special requests or dietary restrictions.
Due to the upfront costs associated to securing accommodations and guide services for this trip, the refund/cancellation policy is as follows:
About your Guides:
Mark is a retired Police Officer and a seasoned fly fisherman with experience as an equipment specialist with Orvis. Jim is a full-time guide based out of Redding, California. He is intimately familiar with these Montana fisheries, and both he and Mark will devote time to each of you in order to assure a successful day on the water. That being said, you are expected to have “mastered the basics” prior to your arrival as Jim and Mark both intend to fish as well. We guarantee that after this trip, you will be a much more confident and successful angler. We look forward to spending time with you on the water!
