An Adventure Ministry is easy to launch & staffThe first step is recruiting a point person for the ministry. That’s as easy as asking the leaders of the church who that person should be. They all know those men and women who are crazy about their sports and successful leaders in the community. These people will catch and expand on the vision then determine which sport or sports would be most logical with which to start.

Launching and Recruiting Volunteers happens simultaneouslyA short announcement during weekend services with photos supporting it that highlights the launch of a ministry using Adventure Sports to Attract and Attach people to Jesus and His Church followed by informational meetings will bring men and women out who already have a passion for their outdoor sports.

Training Volunteers for Successful Ministry |
An Adventure Ministry is “Cost-Neutral” |
Most Outdoor Enthusiasts already have the skills to plan and run events but what they need is the simple training on how to blend ministry into their events through short, relevant devotionals, prayer, and, most importantly, authentic conversations. These happen easily in the relaxed atmosphere of God's creation.

Bayside Adventure Sports is more than “Cost-Neutral”, it actually has increased income for Bayside Church. Most of the ministry is volunteer run, but we are able to support a full-time pastor and a part-time admin and cover the overhead through program fees, memberships, donations, and by tithes coming from families attracted and attached to the church through the program. Ample evidence is available and common sense supports that the Adventure Enthusiasts invest in what they love. They just need to fall in love with Jesus.

Bring In the Experts About Launching an Adventure Ministry
Bring in the founder: Greg Weisman

Greg’s life has been spent preparing him for this ministry. He served 5 years with Youth For Christ’s Campus Life ministry under former President of YFC, Roger Cross. He served 11 years learning intentional ministry and organizational leadership from now President of the NAE, Dr. Leith Anderson at Wooddale Church. He then was called to the brand new Bayside Church to work for the past 20 years with visionary and leadership expert Pastor Ray Johnston as one of the gifted utility players. At Bayside, Greg spent 5 years as Jr. High Pastor, 5 years as Small Groups Pastor, 7 years as Men’s Pastor and 19 years running Bayside Adventure Sports (concurrently with the other ministries until going full time in 2014).
He is a gifted communicator, a visionary, a networker, an administrator, and, of course, an athletic outdoor enthusiast. Bringing Founder & Executive Director Greg Weisman in for a day of consultation will answer questions about organization, training, insurance, marketing, funding, staff development, growth, & Community Support.
Greg and his wife Gloria have, have four married kids and seven grandchildren. Greg’s fitness goal in life? To take all of his grandchildren to the summit of Yosemite’s Half Dome, a location he has now been to over 40 times.

Bring in the Adventure Sports LeadersWhen help is needed with specific sports, the BAS Division Leaders are the best resource available. These are volunteer men and women who currently lead ministries and would be thrilled to help other churches to develop similar programs. They are available via phone, email, and text but the best way to use them is to bring them in to meet with your leaders.
