Firearms Training

Beginner Handgun course
1. Purpose of the class
• To familiarize the student in Firearm safety.
• To familiarize the student in the safe handling and shooting of a handgun
• To improve accuracy by learning the proper stance, grip and manipulation.
• To familiarize the student with safe storage of firearms in the home or transporting the firearm.
• Range time to practice lessons.

2. Target Audience
• New handgun owners with limited shooting experience
• People that have never shot a handgun but own one
• People that have shot a handgun but want to improve

3. Requirements
• Must not be exempt from owning or being in possession of a firearm (refer to CA penal code sections 29800-29830)
• Must bring their own handgun which must be in good working order and functional. We reserve the right to determine if a handgun should not be fired.
• Must be over 18 years of age
• Must sign liability release at www.smartwaiver.com/v/baswaiver
• Register and pay the course fee of $60 for BAS Premium members or $80 for non-members
• Bring 100 rounds of ammunition, or as much as you want to shoot.
• Eye and ear protection 
mandatory. They can be rented at the range.
• Wear comfortable clothing and shirt with high button collar (prevents hot brass down the shirt)
intermediate Handgun course
1. Purpose of the class
• This class is open to any student with a CA CCW or anyone that has taken our Beginner Handgun Class.
•Learn the fundamentals of drills, reloading and malfunction clearing.
•We will talk about equipment needed for carry.

2. Target Audience
• Students that have taken the beginners handgun class and want to learn more about safe handgun handling.
• CCW permit holders that want to learn more.

3. Mandatory Requirements (no exceptions)
• Must not be exempt from owning or being in possession of a firearm (refer to CA penal code sections 29800-29830)
• Must be a current, valid California CCW holder of have been through the beginners handgun class with Bayside Adventure Sports.
• Must bring their own handgun which must be in good working order and functional. We reserve the right to determine if a handgun should not be fired.
• Must be able to carry 2 extra magazines. 1 double or 2 singles are ok. 3 magazines total are needed.
• Must be over 18 years of age
• Register and pay the course fee of $60 for BAS Premium Members or $80 for non-members
• Bring 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection
• Wear comfortable clothing and shirt with high button collar (prevents hot brass down the shirt)

Basic RIFLE markSmanship COURSE
Instructor: Jordan Konrad 

Purpose of the class
• To familiarize the student in firearm safety
• To familiarize the student in the safe handling and shooting of a rifle
• To improve accuracy by learning and applying the fundamentals of marksmanship
 
Target Audience
• New rifle owners with limited shooting experience
• People that have not shot a rifle but own one
• People that have shot a rifle but want to improve

Requirements
• Must not be exempt from owning or being in possession of a firearm (refer to CA penal code sections 29800-29830)
• Must bring their own CA legal semi-automatic rifle which must be in good working order and functional. We reserve the right to determine if a rifle should not be fired.
• Bring 200 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, and water
• Wear comfortable clothing and shirt/jacket with high button collar to prevent hot brass down the shirt and long sleeves to protect elbows while laying in prone

Optional equipment: sling, shooting mat or sleeping mat/yoga mat, shooting jacket, binoculars/spotting scope. It is recommended you bring a lunch or snacks, there are benches and picnic tables at the facility.

Transportation of rifles: It is legal to transport a unloaded rifle unlocked, however we recommend placing the rifle in the trunk of the car and if driving in a pickup or suv to encase and lock the rifles or put a cable lock through the magazine well in order to cover all situations. What to expect: A student paced course starting with 30 min- 45 min of instruction, followed by sighting in the rifle, ending with shooting targets out to 200 yds
Beginner Tactical Rifle Course
Instructor: Jordan Konrad 

Purpose of the class
• To familiarize the student in firearm safety
• To familiarize the student in the safe handling and shooting of a rifle
• To develop speed and accuracy by learning and applying the fundamentals of marksmanship at close distances under time constraints.
• To learn dry fire drills that can be practiced at home.
• To learn live fire drills that can be practiced on a range.
 
Target Audience
• New rifle owners with limited shooting experience.
• People that have never taken a rifle course for self defense.
• Shooters that are familiar with tactical shooting, but are interested in hearing another perspective.

Requirements
• Must not be exempt from owning or being in possession of a firearm (refer to CA penal code sections 29800-29830)
• Must bring their own CA legal semi-automatic rifle which must be in good working order and functional. We reserve the right to determine if a rifle should not be fired.
• Bring 200 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, and water.
• Wear comfortable clothing and shirt/jacket with high button collar to prevent hot brass down the shirt.

Optional equipment: sling, speed reloader, additional ammunition, and amplified hearing protection. It is recommended you bring a lunch or snacks, there are benches and picnic tables at the facility.

What to expect: A student paced course starting with 30 min- 45 min of instruction, followed by 20-30 minutes of dry fire drills, and 2 hours of live fire shooting from 3yds, 7yds, 25yds, 100yds, and 200yds.
Open Range & Gun Cleaning Seminar
Open Range event followed by a Gun Cleaning Seminar.  This event starts with open range shooting for 1hour.  This means just come and shoot.  We will be available to help you or answer any questions.

We will follow the open range with a gun cleaning seminar.  We will provide all the stuff you need to:
 
1.   Disassemble and reassemble your handgun.
2.   Clean your handgun
3.   Show you what cleaning supplies and equipment you will need.
4.   Give you an idea of what cleaners, solvents,  lubricants, oils and greases to use
5.   Your handgun will leave CLEAN!

Mandatory Requirements (no exceptions)      
  1. Must not be exempt from owning or being in possession of a firearm (refer to CA penal code sections 29800-29830)
  2. Must bring their own handgun(s) which must be in good working order and functional. We reserve the right to determine if a handgun should not be fired.
  3. Must be over 21 years of age unless accompanied by a parent.
  4. Must sign liability release. You will receive a link when you register
  5. Bring 100 rounds of ammunition, or as much as you want to shoot.
  6. Eye and ear protection mandatory. They can be rented at the range.
  7. Wear comfortable clothing, shirt with high button collar (prevents hot brass down the shirt)& closed-toed shoes​

Advanced Handgun Course
Purpose of the class
• This class is open to any student with a CA CCW or anyone that has taken our Beginner Handgun Class.
•Learn the fundamentals of the 5 point draw, reloading and malfunction clearing.
•We will run through the Tueller drill and others.
•We will talk about equipment needed for carry.

2. Target Audience
• Students that have taken the beginners handgun class and want to learn more about safe handgun handling utilizing a holster.
• Students that want to prepare themselves for handgun competition.
• CCW permit holders that want to learn more about the draw and malfunction clearing.

3. Mandatory Requirements (no exceptions)
• Must not be exempt from owning or being in possession of a firearm (refer to CA penal code sections 29800-29830)
• Must be a current, valid California CCW holder of have been through the beginners handgun class with Bayside Adventure Sports.
• Must bring their own handgun which must be in good working order and functional. We reserve the right to determine if a handgun should not be fired.
• Must have an approved holster. IWB or OWB ok. No Serpa type holsters, ankle or shoulder rigs.
• Must be able to carry 2 extra magazines. 1 double or 2 singles are ok. 3 magazines total are needed.
• Must be over 18 years of age
• Register and pay the course fee of $60 for BAS Premium Members or $80 for non-members
• Bring 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection
• Wear comfortable clothing and shirt with high button collar (prevents hot brass down the shirt)
