Back in 2010, I came across an article in Backpacker magazine called, "Switzerland's Via Alpina: The World's Best Hike"(see some of their stories here: https://www.backpacker.com/?s=Via+Alpina ) and right then, almost 13 years ago, I wanted to do this hike. It's happening July 26 to August 8th this year... and there are spaces available.

It's not really a backpack trip. No, it's better. We are hiking the best trail in the world but we are not carrying heavy packs and eating freeze dried foods... no, we are carrying day packs and spending our nights in a variety of Swiss Hotels, picking up fresh fruit, cheese, and baked goods to carry for lunches, and, when faced with some of the longest and hardest ascents and descents - have the option of taking some of the Swiss Gondolas! Our duffles are transferred for us by a porter so we hike and shoot photos all day, then get to our hotels, take a shower, and go out to eat!

But Wait! There's More! Haha.... I found a Swiss tour company to help me put this together for G1 Adventure Tours, our small Christian Adventure Tour Company, but when I showed the photos and trail to Gloria... well, she wanted to come too. I knew that this trail was going to be a bit much for her then had an idea and ran it by our tour company. "Since we are staying in hotels... any way you could help me put together a parallel trip for some people who can't quite handle this many miles of challenging climbs?" They did it! So we have two groups - I'm leading one, Gloria the other. We will share 8 of the 12 nights so that group can see and experience the best views in the world without doing as many miles on the trails!

As we travel we focus on being the "Salt of the Earth", the "Light of the World" and spend time in prayer and devotions every day. I believe Discipleship happens best in the context of relationships and I believe that relationships happen best when people have time to relax, get off their phones, and engage in honest conversations about what's most important in life. We will enjoy the beauty of God's Creation and talk about God's love for us and how we may respond to that love as each of us writes the story of our lives.
