John Richert
Scuba & Protect It Team (PIT)
John began Scuba diving twenty years ago while getting his undergrad degree in marine biology. His education and training gave him incredible opportunities to survey coral reefs in the Caribbean and South Pacific Ocean, as well as conduct and publish research on the behavior of white sharks off the central California coast. He moved to California to complete his Ph.D. at UC Davis, where his research and diving focused in the incredible waters off the southern Gulf of California, where he frequently found himself in the water with hammerhead sharks, whale sharks and manta rays. After the completion of his Ph.D., John followed God’s calling into full-time pastoral ministry in Davis, CA where he led the local church for eleven years. Recently, John join the Biology faculty at William Jessup University where he is building a growing Christ-centered biology and marine science program.
Today John serves as a marine biologist and a missionary, leading students, divers and scientists to experience God’s design in the oceans. He attends Bayside’s Granite Bay Campus with his wife, Garricyn, and their five children, Fritzner, Kendall, Maddox, Shayne and Larkin.
