HOSTING THE BAS KIOSK
WHAT’S THE “BAS KIOSK”?“Kiosk” refers to the station or location of the Bayside Adventure Sports promotional table at each campus. It is where we display our flyers, posters, and other promotional products.
WHERE IS THE BAS KIOSK?At the Granite Bay campus it is in the Courtyard currently with its back to the Children’s Building. At Adventure they have two locations for the weekend. For the Saturday 5pm and Sunday 8:30am services it is in the hallway entrance to the smaller or old worship center. For the Sunday 10:30am service it is in the foyer of the main Worship Center. At the Blue Oaks campus, it is in the lobby.

THE GOAL: The goal is to positively introduce people to our ministry. Most people have no idea exactly what we are, what we do, or who can participate. Because we are the only church with a ministry like this, people have no idea what to expect. We want them to know the following:
SUB-GOAL: Recruit Volunteers. Most churches have 20% of their people doing 80% of the ministry. That’s because only 20% of the people have skills or ministry gifts to do church ministry. There are many people who will visit the BAS Kiosk who don’t have normal church skills so it is our opportunity to invite them to use their Adventure skills for The Lord in our ministry. We look for four basic characteristics in those who are interested in serving with BAS:
HOW TO SET UP THE KIOSK
At any given time there should be two or more brochure holders full of brochures or flyers stored in the Kiosk. Simply put them all out in an organized way so that people who walk by can easily see all of them. If there are some extra props or enlargements, place them in strategic locations so they will add to the overall look of the Kiosk.
HOW TO BE A GREAT HOST
HOW TO PUT AWAY THE KIOSK
Carefully fit all the items back into the bin or into the kiosk itself. Be especially careful with any Plexiglas holders as they crack and scratch easily.

THE GOAL: The goal is to positively introduce people to our ministry. Most people have no idea exactly what we are, what we do, or who can participate. Because we are the only church with a ministry like this, people have no idea what to expect. We want them to know the following:
- It is for everyone. It’s for men, women, kids, singles, married couples, families, beginners & experts in 20+ outdoor sports which can be experienced in events that last from 1 hour to multiple weeks. There are over 450 opportunities per year so there is always an opportunity to get started.
- It is about connecting. Most events are perfect for meeting and connecting with other people. Hundreds of people have made new friends whom they have met through BAS because they bond around their passions, their interests, their activities. Further, BAS hosts Bible Studies and other Small Groups for people to go deeper in their relationships.
- It is about experiencing God. It is “Transformation through Recreation in God’s Creation.” You cannot help but be drawn to the creator when you spend time surrounded by His fingerprints in creation. Combine this with a volunteer staff leading a prayer time or sharing a devotional and then finding a little time to sit quietly and listen leads to hearing His voice.

We look for four basic characteristics in those who are interested in serving with BAS:
- Enthusiastically Christian – Jesus Christ is both their Lord and Savior
- Servant Minded – they are known for how they serve others
- Team Builder – they have their “group”, they are not loners
- Adventure Zealot – they are better than average at their adventure sport

HOW TO BE A GREAT HOST
- Familiarize yourself with what literature is in the Kiosk
- Stand in front of the Kiosk, smile, and engage those walking by.
- Go after people who look like they should be join us.
- When you greet them, look them in the eye, hand them an “Upcoming Events” sheet, and say something like, “You should come outdoors with us! You would love it!”
- Ask them what kinds of outdoor activities they enjoy. If they mention Camping or Hiking, give them the “Camping With BAS” handout that will give them an overview of all the camping trips we do, and mention that at most of them we offer hiking and water fun with Stand Up Paddleboards, Kayaks, and more… all included in the very inexpensive price.
- If they mention any other sport that we happen to have flyers about, give them those individual flyers, pointing out that the coordinator’s email and phone number is on that flyer for more information.
- Show them the “Upcoming Events” page and point out:
- ”All the sports that we do What’s coming up right away
- Big events coming up in the future that you might want to put on your calendar or take time off of work for… up to two years in advance!
- Point to the trips like White Water Rafting the Grand Canyon, Hiking in Nepal, Hiking to Machu Picchu, etc. (mentioning these usually surprises people because they don’t expect a church to be offering such amazing trips).
- How to get in touch with leadership if they have a question
- The website because that’s where they will find all the information about the ministry.
