Kayak Camping: Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe
June 11-14, 2020 - CANCELLED
The State Parks cancelled our reservations on 5/20 - sorry!
Bring your own kayak/SUP and camp with us at Emerald Bay! We'll put in at Lester Beach in DL Bliss State Park about 15 miles south of Tahoe City then paddle to the Boat-in Campground in Emerald Bay about four miles south.
Recommended experience level:
Kayakers – Intermediate to advanced
SUP – Advanced
Ages: Adult; 16 and 17 yr old with an adult
Cost: $75/BAS member or $99/non-member
What to bring:
It’s best to plan like you would for a backpacking trip, plus everything needs to be packed in water proof /dry backs. Clothing for three days, pack layers for 40 to 80 degrees. Food for three days, backpacking food is recommended. It is possible to float part of your gear, but it can make paddling more difficult.
Sunscreen (environmentally sensitive is recommended), chapstick, water shoes, gloves, hat, hydration backpack.
You must bring your own kayak or SUP, paddle, and PFD.
Parking is very limited and carpooling encouraged. After unloading at Lester beach, we’ll park in overflow parking and hike back to the beach. It’s about four mile paddle from Lester Beach to the Boat Campground beach.
Pre-Meeting
We’ll meet TBA before the trip to get to know one another & do a gear check
Join the trip conversation at our Meetup site - www.meetup.com/BAS-G1Outdoors/events/267126441
